Latin America is the ideal continent for the family holiday-of-a-lifetime offering adventure, history, culture and wildlife. Or just bring out the bucket and spade and chill under the swaying palm trees…

South America is a continent where the family comes first. Children, young and old, are central to its fabric, which is reflected in the wide array of experiences on offer.

It may seem a long way to fly a young family for a holiday, but flight connections have greatly improved and we now consider that Cartagena, Machu Picchu and the Galapagos Islands are now within an easy half term travel distance! The Galapagos Islands are a perfect place to start. Playful sea lions, giant tortoises, multi-coloured land iguanas and penguins live together in perfect harmony, and are sure to entrance the whole family. We can offer a variety of cruises (which is really the best way to see the islands) or we can arrange holidays that combine a short cruise with a land-based experience at the Galapagos Safari Camp and/or for a bit more luxury you could consider Pikaia Lodge which combines both land and sea based experiences and avoids the risk of sea sickness. We also offer a beautiful private villa in Galapagos that might suit a larger family.

For something very different a visit to Peru’s Sacred Valley will leave you with lasting memories. This need not be just about Inca ruins or the wonderful local indigenous culture, we can also arrange excursions on electric bikes up into the Andes or even stand-up paddle boarding on Lake Huaypo, followed by a magnificent ‘pachamanca’ lunch cooked on hot stoned under ground. For older children we offer a variety of walking and camping trips in the Sacred Valley – or you can do it the Inca way and walk to Machu Picchu itself, entering the ruins via the Sun Gate. Follow this up with a couple of nights in the Amazon Jungle at Reserva Amazonica for a thrilling history, nature and wildlife experience which few other places in the world can compete with.

In Brazil, unwind for Christmas in one of our private beach villas for a few days, before heading off to the Pantanal – one of the world’s largest tropical wetlands: home to the jaguar and many other rare animal species including macaws, toucans, and the curious capybara. Or if your family comes from a sailing background, we can offer for the first time a private yacht charter operating out of Paraty and sailing along the Costa Verde, surely some of the best sailing waters in the world.

The awesome glaciers and wild, barren and windswept plains of Patagonia open up more possibilities from horseback riding and hiking to a cruise down to Cape Horn and some of the most southern and remote parts of the globe.
