Shaded by lofty trees of the Atlantic Rainforest, Butterfly House has 11 rooms in well spread out ‘casitas’ which are centred on the swimming pool and restaurant, set back from the sea.

The rooms are all individually designed and furnished with comfortable beds and rustic style furniture sourced from around the world. Some have fun ‘shower pods’ and their own private terraces. There is a relaxing chillout area with colourful hammocks and day beds fronting the sea.

It’s easy to indulge in the sea-side atmosphere here. It’s just a short walk out over the pristine sand to swim in the sea or enjoy the virtually deserted beach. Lagoa do Cassange, the 3rd largest freshwater lake in Brazil, is just a couple of minutes walk away and is great for swimming and kayaking. It’s also well worth visiting the village of Barra Grande as well to soak up the peaceful atmosphere and rhythms of this traditional fishing village, and to chill out in the laid back bars and restaurants there. For more adventurous types there is a great surfing spot nearby (and the hotel provides lessons if needed!) and you can go speed boating, snorkelling and boating in the Camamu Bay. And if you really just want to slow down you can indulge in yoga classes, massage therapy and Capoeira Classes at sunrise on the beach. There are quad bikes and 4×4s available to rent to get around and ensure freedom to work to your own schedule.
