Accommodation
Gocta NaturaChachapoyas, Peru
Approached along a bumpy track through newly planted trees and shrubs, the theme here is very much about restoring the natural habitat and encouraging wildlife. The rooms are discreetly spread around the gardens on timber decks, with their own private verandas in front and views through the trees towards the waterfall.
Breakfast and dinner are served on the terrace of the main building, where there is also a living room where guests can relax and read. Dinner is a set menu and guests should inform the owner of any dietary restrictions beforehand.
The trek from the hotel to the waterfall takes around two hours and the remarkable Chachapoya remains at Karajia and Revash, as well as the impressive fortress at Kuelap are within driving distance.
This is a wonderful and relaxing hotel to make a base for exploring the region.
