Accommodation
Hacienda BuenavistaCoffee Region, Colombia
Dutch and Scottish couple Floris and Lynn Van Pallandt opened found and bought this 110 acre parcel of land for the amazing panoramic views (hence the Buenavista name).
There are only four rooms here (2 standard and 2 suites) and it’s over 18s only, creating an environment of tranquillity and relaxation. The rooms are luxuriously furnished in earthy colours and the bathrooms are organic in feel with polished wood. Each room has its own private terrace (we liked the Cristal suite for its extra large terrace). There is an infinity pool boasting spectacular views and space to lie in the sun and soak up the environment. The food and wine are taken seriously here. The Colombian chef rotates dishes every day using fresh produce from the hacienda’s grounds. We loved the way that, in the evening, the kitchen takes up the mantle of the space that everyone gravitates towards. In the daytime there are cosy communal living areas to relax in.
For adventure, guests can take a trip on the Rio Vieja on bamboo pole rafts, spotting wildlife as you float down the river. Hiking and horse riding are also available, as are tours and tastings in the coffee region.
