Located in a 7,000-hectare private forest reserve on the banks of the Madre de Dios River, Reserva Amazonica is a great introduction to the rain forest and is ideal for families as well as couples. This remarkably luxurious eco-lodge operates on a full-board basis, and a good range of activities and excursions. Not to be missed is the treetop canopy walkway.

The main lodge building houses the excellent restaurant, which only uses fresh local ingredients for all meals and a full bar service. There are also lounge areas on the mezzanine level for relaxing. Guest accommodation is in 35 cabañas, all built of natural materials but incorporating modern amenities. The Ena Spa, right on the banks of the river is ideal for massages and there is a separate eco-centre where the daytime activities can be arranged.

We particularly love the treehouse – a private house right up in the treetops at the end of the canopy walkway. This is ideal for honeymooners or for a special surprise – and you can dine ‘a deux’ at the top of one of the canopy walkway towers.

Please be aware that Reserva Amazonica is an eco-lodge. There is no air conditioning and the generator does not run in the afternoons or late at night. Oil lamps, candles and torches are provided.
