Bahia Bustamante Eco-LodgeBahia Bustamante, Argentina

The only place to stay at this extraordinarily beautiful and awe-inspiring natural spot is the shabby-chic eco-lodge, which is operated by the owner and his friendly staff.

The village’s former Grocery Store offers a typical Patagonian atmosphere and houses the common areas of the lodge. The living room is perfect for reading some of the books about the fauna and birds of the region, or simply watching the sea through the large windows, and also incorporates a small bar.

The dining room serves hearty yet creative regional food. And with the nearest shop some four hours away, you can be sure that almost everything you eat is grown, raised, gathered or caught on-site!

Guests are accommodated in six clean and comfortable ocean-front bungalows, each with two bedrooms, a living room and fully-equipped bathroom along with a terrace. Wake up to see Rheas foraging along beach, as you walk along for breakfast before the day’s activities.

The lodge programme includes full-board with a breakfast and dinner served in the dining room and a picnic lunch. Day time activities include bird and sea lion watching, visits to the petrified forest, demonstrations of the seaweed industry, visits to a typical Patagonian ranch (with more than 20,000 sheep), hiking, horseback riding and mountain biking. During the summer months, enjoy the sandy beaches, or take a dip in a rock pool.

Electricity and Wi-Fi are limited, but this is a place where you can disconnect completely from the modern world and build a true relationship with Mother Nature. The lodge is open to guests during the southern-hemisphere spring and summer months… starting in October, when the penguins and the other migratory birds arrive, until the end of March, when they start to leave.
