Accommodation
La Selva Jungle LodgeAmazon, Ecuador
Constructed in local natural materials and located far from any other habitation, La Selva Lodge blends discreetly into the Amazon rain forest, and with just 19 suites it is small enough to have minimum impact on the surrounding Yasuni Biosphere Reserve.
The bar and restaurant are housed in the main open-sided building closest to the pier, overlooking Lake Garzacocha. The food is excellent with most of the ingredients supplied by local communities, and the bar offers a fine spot to relax and watch the sunset overb the surrounding rain forest.
The rooms all have an electricity supply, so the rooms are well lit and even have hair dryers, but there is no air-conditioning, relying instead on quiet ceiling fans and open, insect protected windows. The four poster beds have mosquito nets and luxury bed linens, but you can hear the jungle noises going on around you at night.
The naturalist guides are a vital part of the team at La Selva; all groups are assigned two guides, the first is a bilingual English / Spanish speaking guide, most with many years experience in Ecuador, the second will be a member of a local community who has grown up in the jungle. This combination gives our guests an immersive experience into life and the ecosystem in the jungle.
As well as excursions on the lake and rivers in a panga (a motorised skiff), guests can explore the surroundings by kayaks and jungle walks. There is a 38 meter high observation platform for birdwatching at various levels in the canopy and a parrot clay lick.
A stay at La Selva Jungle Lodge combines very well with a luxury cruise on the M/V Anakonda with guests enjoying an exclusive drop off at the La Selva pier. Speak to us for further information!
