Built on the site of a 16th century colonial house in the heart of Cartagena’s old town, this new boutique hotel merges original features with a panache for modern design.

The 51 rooms here are designed with neutral colours, exposed walls and natural materials and sit perfectly in the colonial feel of the hotel. Some of the rooms are rather dark with limited outlook over internal courtyards, but we will make sure our guests are in the better rooms. It is well worth spending some time on the rooftop terrace of this hotel and spending some time lounging around the pool there, sipping a cocktail and enjoying the views of the historic city centre.

The El Gobernador By Rausch restaurant is a highlight here. Run by the famous Rausch brothers, it serves up world-class, cutting edge cuisine. This restaurant is open to the public so hotel guests are advised to make a reservation. Overall, this hotel has a lot of style and offers a more contemporary feel than most of the other boutique hotels in the old city.
