The Inkaterra Pueblo Hotel is the best hotel to stay at in Aguas Calientes. It is a low-rise eco-lodge, designed in the style of a rustic Andean village, and is very conveniently located close to the train station.
The public areas include two restaurants, a bar and lounge areas. There is also an eco-centre. Of the 85 casitas, many have their own fireplaces and the suites have their own private terraces and hot pools. Breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner are included in the room rate. The restaurant and food aren’t top end here, but it’s a sacrifice to make for the location.
The hotel is conveniently located for visits to Machu Picchu (day tours can be pre-organised for you). Additionally you can participate in group excursions offered by the hotel: bird watching, orchid walks or trips to see the endangered Spectacled bear. After a hard day it’s possible to relax with a massage in the Unu Spa or take an Andean sauna (an igloo made of indigenous bamboo and fresh eucalyptus leaves.)
This hotel is a great choice if you are looking for a slightly rustic feel, a good location to explore Machu Picchu and good sized rooms in a sustainable environment. We’d recommend taking a room away from the railway line as it can be a bit noisy (we can help to arrange this). It also has some great provisions for children so well worth considering if travelling as a family.
