Fancy a dip in the Amazon?

You can brave the piranhas and anacondas and swim in the river itself. The locals do… and in fact I did… (for a couple of minutes!) whilst on one of the fabulous Amazon luxury cruises such as the M/V Delfin 1 in the Peruvian Amazon that we offer.

But to swim in the Amazon in style you need to visit the floating swimming pool at Al Frio y Al Fuego Restaurant in Iquitos.

A floating swimming pool? Did you read that right? Well actually the entire two-storey restaurant – which is one of the best in Iquitos – is built on a massive raft of tree-trunks and is floating in the middle of the river. And the attached swimming pool means that you can enjoy a dip and an exotic camu-camu juice before or after your meal.
