Hotel Casa Real is a small boutique hotel situated in a two-storey colonial building in Villa de Leyva. The hotel has been restored and decorated in keeping with its colonial heritage, with pretty 17th and 18th-century period features throughout. The 15 rooms and suites are of a good size and elegantly decorated.

Casa Real offers a few drink and dining options with a full service restaurant, a courtyard and garden cafe, and a lounge bar with live music in the evenings. The indoor pool and spa is the perfect place to end up after a day of sightseeing in Villa de Leyva and the surrounding area.

The property is just a few blocks walk from the main square in Villa de Leyva, the Plaza Mayor, which sits at the centre of this pretty historical town surrounded by rolling hills. It is one of the few towns in Colombia with such well preserved colonial architecture and with many houses dating from the 16th century. A visit to Villa de Leyva really feels like stepping back in time and the town was declared a national monument in 1954.
