Tierra PatagoniaTorres del Paine, Chile

Tierra Patagonia takes full advantage of breathtaking views of Lake Sarmiento and the peaks of Torres del Paine National Park.

Just 15 minutes from the entrance to the National Park, Tierra Patagonia’s 3 suites, 34 superior rooms (10 of which can be connected to create 5 family apartments) and 3 standard rooms all have large windows to benefit from the amazing views. The architecture of the common room areas has been designed to make the most of the surrounding panorama as well. The rooms are tastefully decorated in wood to create an ambiance of Patagonian warmth and comfort. The Chef at the hotel uses local products and techniques to cook up world class cuisine and there is an extensive menu of Chilean wines, artisan beers and classic cocktails. At the end of a day outdoors you can relax in the outdoor infinity pool and jacuzzi or pamper yourself with spa treatments using local elements, stones and water.

Torres del Paine National Park was named as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve in 1978. There are a range of hikes and horse-back rides to take in the area with the opportunity to see wildlife such as eagles, condors, guanaco, sheep, foxes and ñandú (a type of ostrich). For more recent human history you can view cave paintings from the Aonikenk, hunter-gatherer native Indians that occupied this area some 6,000 years ago. You can also take a number of day tours, including boating on Lake Grey and viewing the Grey Glacier. Birdwatching, fishing and kayaking are also possible. Guides are available to help you to make the most of your experiences.

The architecture of this hotel is quite special and the experience of sitting in the outdoor pool in the splendid isolation of this landscape is the perfect antidote to a day enjoying the rugged, wild and windswept plains of Chilean Patagonia.
