Mountain Lodges - Salkantay TrekSacred Valley to Machu Picchu, Peru
Enjoy the breath-taking scenery and unforgettable experience of walking to Machu Picchu without having to sacrifice creature comforts. We can arrange ‘luxury treks’ to Machu Picchu via four charming and comfortable lodges that are strategically located along the Salkantay Route.
Salkantay Lodge has 12 rooms (all with en-suite shower) where you spend the first two nights and acclimatise. The three other lodges – Wayra, Colpa and Lucma – each have six en-suite rooms and you spend one night at each. All the lodges are well away from the camp sites of the traditional Inca Trail, so that the spectacular scenery can be enjoyed in peace and tranquillity.
The lodges are well heated, have electricity and ample hot water. There is even Internet access and satellite phones in case you should need to keep in contact with the outside world.
We love the fact that each lodge has an outdoor hot tub/jacuzzi where you can soothe tired limbs after the day’s trek. All meals are included and the delicious dishes are based on traditional Peruvian recipes.
This is a unique experience that is understandably extremely popular and often booked up months in advance, so forward planning is essential! The lodges are closed during the rainy season in January and February.
