Hacienda UrubambaSacred Valley, Peru
Hacienda Urubamba is the newest addition to Inkaterra’s growing collection of individual properties and was opened in 2015. Located on a hillside overlooking the Sacred Valley the property is set in a 100-acre estate and comprises a main house with separate villas.
The 12 rooms within the main house and 24 stand-alone ‘casitas’ offer spacious and well-appointed accommodation with magnificent views over the valley. The architecture and interiors are inspired by the area’s local culture with colonial furniture, Inca masks, handcrafted woodwork and colourful weavings adding to the hacienda’s local charm.
We particularly love the ‘earth-to-table’ concept, where most of the food is grown on site at the organic farm, which guests are welcome to visit. Here you can see crops such as quinoa, giant corn, medicinal herbs and a variety of potatoes being farmed with traditional hand tools and oxen, as done centuries ago. The kitchen makes good use of these and serves up excellent creative modern Peruvian dishes in the comfortable restaurant.
For those who have the time to spend a couple of nights in the Sacred Valley, there is no better place to relax, unwind and take in the mountain air.
