Aguas Arriba LodgePatagonia, Argentina
Accessible only by boat (or a three-hour hike) Aguas Arriba Lodge is a tiny hideaway home-from-home located on the shores of the Lago del Desierto. This charming lodge offers a warm welcome with roaring log fires, good home-cooked food in an Alpine atmosphere, coupled with with magnificent panoramic views across the lake towards the north face of Fitz Roy Mountain, Torre Hill and the Vespignani glacier.
The lodge is located within the 700-hectare Estancia de las Vueltas and this secluded and exclusive location offers a total get-away. There is no mobile phone signal, no TV and no WiFi in the hotel; the only Internet connection is via the fixed landline, so this is a great place to truly escape the rat race.
With just five comfortable and cozy guest rooms, and the very personal service from the carming hosts and the staff, it is easy to feel at home here. We enjoyed the friendly feel of the lodge and sense of community with the other guests, the simple home cooking and the local guided hikes (which are included).
Aguas Arriba is also a wonderful place simply to relax and feel at one with nature. The large picture windows offer fabulous views, whilst the main deck overlooking the lake comes into its own on warmer days. Please note the lodge is only open during the southern hemisphere summer months of October to April.
