A great value boutique hotel in the old walled city of Catagena.
The Boutique Hotel Anandá, named after the Sanskrit word meaning ‘state of bliss’ lives up to its name, and is one of the smaller hotel options in the heart of the walled city combining colonial charm with 21st Century sophistication and design.
The main courtyard has a raised platform with water underneath it where tables are set out for al fresco dining and the indoor restaurant – which is open all day until late – is beside the courtyard . The main swimming pool is in a second courtyard beyond a small bar. There is a second, smaller pool/jacuzzi on the extensive roof terraces where you can relax – especially in the late afternoon and evening when the full heat of the sun has gone.
This hotel is housed within the old defence walls of Cartagena de Indias; founded in 1533 and now a UNESCO World Heritage site. All the old city is within a short walking distance. For movie buffs it was also the setting for ‘Love in the time of Cholera’, based on the novel by Gabriel García Márquez. If you wish we can arrange private sightseeing tours of the old town and the castle of San Felipe and Manga for you in an air-conditioned vehicle.
Almost all the 24 rooms and suites open onto the inner courtyards, though some split-level Luxury Suites have balconies overlooking the street. Some of the luxury suites are very spacious and offer great value by Cartagena standards. There are some rooms and suites which don’t have windows (not unusual in Cartagena!), but we can help you to avoid these.
