Bocas del Mar is a newly-opened boutique resort, beautifully set on the mainland near Boca Chica overlooking the sea and surrounding tropical islands. It is a great location to kick back and chill out for a few days.
The resort has just 15 simple and attractive modern-style bungalows plus a master suite and is set in pleasant grounds with two swimming pools. The main restaurant/bar area offers a menu of modern international dishes with a Panamanian twist and the fresh seafood is clearly a strong point.
Although there is no beach access directly in front of the hotel, we recommend a trip on the resort’s boat to discover the neighbouring islands and some delightful secret beaches in the Gulf of Chiriqui National Park, which can only be accessed by boat. Deep-sea fishing and, during the season, whale watching trips can also be arranged.
The resort is set very privately, but you can walk or take a water taxi to the neighbouring village of Boca Chica, where you can find some local restaurants and see the fishermen bringing in their catch.
Owned by a Belgian family, we enjoyed the friendly but efficient service at Bocas del Mar and recommend it to our guests visiting northern Panama.
