New Adventures in the Lares Valley
Our new Peruvian hiking & cultural experience along the Lares Trail in the Sacred Valley of the Incas launches this September with comfortable and exclusive accommodation.
The Lares Trail provides an interesting alternative to our popular Luxury Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu. However, the new route is noted for its cultural attractions, including traditional weavers attired in colourful dress, roving herds of alpacas and llamas, and a panorama of waterfalls, snow peaks, and glacial lakes.
Three new mountain lodges have been built in the towns of Lamay and Ollantaytambo and in the rural community of Huacahuasi. These will serve as deluxe ‘base camps’ for day hikes in the surrounding environs.
We are now offering four-night or six-night fixed departure from Cusco with a small group, complete with an expert guide who will accompany you for the entire journey. Alternatively, we can customise your itinerary with stays for any number of days in one, two, or all three lodges, enjoying daily activities led by the lodge’s own local guides.
Guests can hike from one lodge to the next, or transfer by vehicle part of the way—ideal for a variety of hiking levels and abilities. Finally, you will end by taking the train to Machu Picchu, where a guided tour of the Lost City of the Incas is included.
