Inca Kola: the taste of Peru
You’ll see the name everywhere: on menus, on signs, billboards and buildings, and on the omnipresent bottles…. Inca Kola: Peru’s favourite soda drink.
With a bright yellowish-green colour and tasting like pure liquid bubble gum this drink is, to say the least, an acquired taste for unsuspecting visitors! It may be a surprise to know, therefore, that it was invented by a British immigrant, Jose Robinson Lindley in 1935.
Inca Kola became so popular that the brand was effectively bought out by Coca Cola in 1999, but it remains a national icon in Peru.
