Solar do Rosario is a charming colonial building and a great base to explore Ouro Preto. It been completely renovated and consists of 41 rooms. The lower category rooms are a little small and don’t have balconies, however the suites enjoy a wonderful view of the adjacent square. The Superior Suites are decorated to a very high standard and merit the premium rate for their tasteful furnishings, space and other amenities.

The hotel is set among patio gardens. It has a small outdoor rooftop pool will outstanding views of the city’s three principal churches; S. Francisco de Paulo, Nossa Senhora do Rosario and São José. There is also a small gym and hot tub. The staff are friendly (although their spoken English is a little wanting).Valet parking is a welcome extra.

Walk the hilly cobbled streets of Ouro Preto to encounter colonial architecture and beautiful churches, visit museums and galleries and try the local cuisine in the many restaurants. Alternatively escape the town on a hike into the Itacolomi State Park or visit one of the local mines.

Staying in one of the elegant rooms here and having the opportunity to see the early morning mist over the picturesque town of Ouro Preto is truly a memorable experience.
